“Oblivion Season” wins nominations at U.S. festival

TEHRAN – Widely-acclaimed Iranian director Abbas Rafei’s social drama “Oblivion Season” has been nominated in the best film category at the Irvine International Film Festival (IIFF), which will be held in Orange County, CA from January 15 to 21.
The film has also brought a best actress nomination for Sareh Bayat.
The movie is about a woman who starts a new life by marrying her lover but leaving the shadow of her dark past turns out not to be as easy as it had seemed before.
Seven other movies have also received nominations in the best film category of the festival.
So far Bayat has received a number of accolades at several international events for her role in the movie.
Most recently, she won the award for best actress at the 8th Jaipur International Film Festival, which was held in the Indian city from January 2 to 6.
“Oblivion Season” was crowned best film at the 16th Asiatica Film Mediale, an Italian festival dedicated to Asian cinema, held in Rome last November.
The movie also won the best film award at the Universal Film Festival in Kansas City last September. It also brought a best actress award to Bayat.
In addition, the Brasov International Film Festival and Market in Romania presented the award for best film to “Oblivion Season” last September.
